simAXS
The access management simulator for developers
“ Anyone who has ever tried to develop a product that needs to be able to integrate with one (or more) of a number of different [Access Management] products will understand the problem this solves. ”- Dave Kearns on simAXS in NetworkWorld's Identity Management Newsletter
Identicentric's simAXS is a better way to develop single sign-on enabled applications. It simulates the HTTP header based integration method common to access management systems (like Oracle COREid Access Manager, CA eTrust Siteminder, and Sun Access Manager) and eliminates the need to install and maintain a complex security environment for day-to-day application development. Use it to:
- Jumpstart a development cycle in 5 minutes or less
- Write single sign-on enabled code immediately with NO learning curve
- Eliminate hard-coded test data from a project
- Quickly establish a proof of concept
- Reduce complexity in a development environment
- Work offline at home, remote office, or the beach
- Save hours of repetitive deployments to an integration area for testing
- Reduce dependence on expensive shared development servers!
- Troubleshoot commercial products using simAXS utilities
Quick Tour
Now explore the key features of the simAXS product.

Step 1: The 5 minute installer Run the simAXS installer to copy all program files to your computer AND automatically configure IIS. Just follow the simple prompts, restart IIS and you're done! The simAXS ISAPI filter is installed directly into IIS just like a WebGate or Policy Agent. It has direct access to the HTTP server context before your application. By using an ISAPI filter simAXS is also able to pass HTTP headers into non-microsoft containers like Weblogic, WebSphere, and JRun that use IIS based reverse proxies. The simAXS solution functions as a completely standalone solution, no other software or network services are required. |

Step 2: Management Utility Open the management utility and begin to create your data profiles. Each profile can uniquely identify a specific test user, role, or dataset. Profiles can contain an unlimited number of HTTP Header or Cookie configurations and it is easy to select a profile to act as the default. |
|
Step 3: Profile Selector Fire up a browser and use the web based selector to choose which profile you would like to use for a given session. Profiles are "selected" using a cookie too, so it is easy to develop programmatic and scripted test scenarios that use a specific profile. If a specific profile is not selected simAXS will use the default profile. |

Step 4: ASP.NET Inspector Use your web browser to navigate to the ASP.NET selector. This value-add utility dumps all of the available headers to your web browser for testing and debugging purposes. Use it to verify the data sent to your application by simAXS, or even troubleshoot problems with other access management products. This page doubles as sample code to demonstrate the proper method for retrieving HTTP Headers from an ASP.NET application. |
|
Step 5: ASP Inspector Haven't upgraded all your applications to .NET yet? The APS inspector is a complementary ASP/VBScript utility that enumerates headers as they appear in legacy ASP 3 applications. This page doubles as sample code to demonstrate the proper method for retrieving HTTP Headers from an ASP page. |
